Using the Force is the key in battles
Even though the lightsaber is a flashy and enjoyable weapon in the galaxy, it is the Force that stands out as the most adaptable and potent tool available to you. The Force can be utilized in combat to give you an edge over your adversaries with numerous abilities that can be unlocked by spending skill points.
Cal has numerous force abilities at his disposal, each deserving of investment. It is recommended that you allocate some skill points to increase your maximum Force, as its many uses can quickly deplete it in battle, leaving you solely reliant on your lightsaber. Furthermore, the Force can be employed to throw objects, including grenades, at your opponents, and even turn their weapons against them.
Parry in fights
Your main defense mechanisms in combat will revolve around blocking and parrying, with the latter being crucial in unleashing lethal counter-attacks. The timing for parrying will differ based on the difficulty level of the game, so it is recommended to practice and master the timing for both ranged and melee enemies in the early stages of the game.
Successfully parrying a ranged enemy will deflect their projectile back at them, resulting in immediate elimination of weaker targets. When you parry a melee attack, it will either significantly or entirely drain your enemy's stamina bar, providing you with an opening to perform an easy finishing move. This enables you to dispatch your foes much faster than by using only basic attacks.
Use skill points in your advantage
It is advisable to strive to obtain as many bonuses as possible, particularly the potent upgrades pertaining to Health essence, Force essence, and stim canisters in Star Wars Jedi Survivor. By acquiring essence, you can raise the limit of your HP and the Force meter, which indicates the amount of Force power available for use before needing to recharge. Having additional stim canisters allows for greater healing in combat. Therefore, it is recommended that you explore as much of the game as possible. If you come across a luminous crystal on the ground or a yellow cylindrical container, be sure to open it to obtain a substantial boost.
Check every corner of a room
BD-1 is constantly searching for objects to scan, and due to the numerous rewards that can be obtained, it is recommended that you scan anything and everything you come across. However, some items that can be scanned may not be immediately apparent, making the task challenging.
BD-1 provides some indication when it detects something that can be scanned, emitting beeps and boops while descending from your shoulder once you approach an item of interest. Nonetheless, certain areas can be extensive, so it is best to develop the habit of thoroughly exploring every location you enter, as there might be objects that are not immediately visible and require scanning.
Use headphones or keep the volume up while playing
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor places a strong emphasis on ambushes, with the initial encounter involving a heavily camouflaged enemy. There is a constant risk of being caught off guard as you turn corners, potentially encountering surprise attacks. Fortunately, the game offers a valuable asset: exceptional sound design. Your auditory senses are as crucial as your visual awareness while playing Survivor.
By training yourself to instinctively activate the block button as soon as you hear an enemy grunt, boop, or snarl, you can effectively avoid falling victim to ambush attacks. It is important to remain attentive to sound cues during combat as well. Enemies often provide visual cues through distinctive animations, but their attacks are also accompanied by specific audio cues. A prime example is the hovering droid, which emits a unique sound just before firing its blaster at you. Stay alert and utilize your ears to enhance your combat prowess and evade surprise assaults.
Use The Double-Bladed Lightsaber
At the beginning of the game, players will have access to two Lightsaber stances: Single and Double-Bladed. Following the introductory mission, the Dual Wield stance will become available. As the game progresses, two additional stances, Blaster and Crossguard, can be unlocked in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, offering a total of five Lightsaber stances for Cal to master.
For most players, prioritizing the Double-Bladed stance is recommended due to its favorable balance in combat. This stance enables the Lightsaber to deliver powerful strikes while remaining flexible enough to deflect incoming laser blasts. Moreover, many abilities within the Double-Bladed skill tree aid in dispatching multiple enemies simultaneously, making it particularly advantageous when confronted with overwhelming numbers.
